Jay Stewart

Originally from El Paso, TX, I spent a few years in Kansas City before settling into Grand County Colorado 19+ years ago. I am a husband and father to 3 amazing kids that always keep me laughing!

I first picked up a camera in 1996 to start documenting my friends skating, BMXing, and having fun. A chance encounter at a backyard BMX session in Kansas City in summer of 1999 changed that. Crossing paths with Mark Losey who was the photo editor of RideBMX magazine at the time, he let me help setup a shot that went on to be a 3 page fold out when the article hit shelves! We had never met before that day, but his willingness to share his photography knowledge with me that day became the driving force for me to fine tune my craft and follow my passion! Later that summer I moved to the Fraser Valley in Grand County Colorado and have continued to pursue my passion for photography. I love to working with clients to not simply take a picture, but to create something more, personal, something that we are both proud to have been a part of! Action Sports have been a part of my life since before that was even a term used to describe skateboarding/biking/snowboarding etc, and I continue to love it and am grateful each day that I get to shoot it for a living.

Getting married and becoming a parent opened yet another world within photography for me. Weddings, Family, Kids I look at them all as candid action, and I love shooting them! I love talking to couples and hearing what is important to them or what makes them laugh and tailoring shoots to them. Making a photo personal to each client adds so much emotion, and it is FUN to work with clients, get creative, think outside the box, to create memories that they will have for years to come! Kids, kids grow so fast, that one funny face they make that cracks you up may only last a week or 2 tops so capturing it with YOU, the parents, in the picture is priceless! Weddings are such special days to capture, so much work and preparation goes into a wedding day, and when that day arrives their can be a lot of nerves. I love to capture the candid moments of your wedding day so that you can look back with smiles while remembering the great things that happened, all while keeping it FUN! If you share a passion, and want to incorporate that into your wedding even better! I love thinking outside the box to create special memories, backflipping over your bride snowboarding??? I got you guys...

Over the years I have had the opportunity to collaborate with Wells Fargo, Winter Park Resort, Transworld Snowboarding, Snowboard Colorado, Smokin' Snowboards, Ski Magazine, The Denver Post, Colorado Threads, and Healthy Pet Austin among others!
